An Environment Where Dancers Can Thrive.
The Accelerated Dance Program at Houston Dance Works is designed for dedicated dancers ready to train at a higher level. Beginning at age 6, dancers may audition each June for the chance to join our award-winning teams. Families from Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, the 77018 community of Houston, and surrounding neighborhoods choose Houston Dance Works when their dancers are ready for serious training in a supportive environment.
Accelerated dancers receive intensive training across ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, acro, and more — led by specialized instructors who develop both technical excellence and personal growth.
Accelerated dancers compete regionally, perform on national stages, and consistently earn top honors. HDW dancers have earned national titles for five consecutive years, including two National Champions at the 2026 Rainbow Nationals and Grand Champion honors at Platinum’s 2026 Ultimate Invitational in Tampa. These results demonstrate what we believe deeply: dancers can achieve at a high level while training in a culture that values both excellence and who they are becoming.
Beyond the Competition Floor
Accelerated dancers are given opportunities to experience dance beyond weekly classes and competitions. Through nationally recognized guest artists, conventions and apprentice opportunities, film and creative projects, and special training and performance experiences, dancers are exposed to new perspectives and challenged to grow as artists and people.
HDW dancers have trained in New York City with Broadway performers and at the Alvin Ailey Extension, performed at the Statue of Liberty, and participated in unique projects and experiences beyond the studio. Upcoming opportunities include a Walt Disney World performance experience in 2027.
And the impact continues beyond graduation. Accelerated alumni have gone on to leadership roles, continued dance education and creative opportunities, with some returning to HDW as teachers and mentors for the dancers coming behind them.
The goal is bigger than a trophy: strong dancers, confident leaders, supportive teammates and young people prepared for whatever comes next.
Accelerated Dance
Accelerated is HDW’s highest-level training pathway for dancers ready for greater commitment, challenge and opportunity. Dancers train across multiple disciplines while developing the technique, artistry, discipline and teamwork expected of an HDW Accelerated dancer.
Hip-Hop Crew
The HDW Hip-Hop Crew is a competitive team known for dynamic, high-energy performances. Crew members train in both technique and rehearsal classes and perform at two competitions each season. Admission requires at least two years of hip-hop experience and a successful audition, ensuring that every member is prepared to perform at an elevated level.
Pre-Accelerated Program
Pre-Accelerated is the perfect introduction for dancers curious about the team experience. No audition is required — just commitment and enthusiasm. Dancers get a taste of Accelerated training, attend one convention each year, and begin developing the discipline, teamwork, and artistry that define our program.
